This was a year of new beginnings, with the lap top kids and new software to learn. Moodle was the best web based class site that I have used. It is easy to use for the teacher and student, multi-purposed and reliable. As I experimented with the use of tech to enhance our assignments and projects, I scrambled to use tech more efficiently and creatively in the classroom. Although I do not know the details of how to use Garage Band, Jing, and iMovie, it did enhance, or extend the engagement to the assignment. For example, writing sonnets is not usually a creative project for the student. The addition of technology engaged the student and enabled us to visualize, hear and in general hear the message in a much more entertaining venue. This was Phase 1 using tech in the classroom and Phase 2 will attempt to examine how writing can be improved through more collaboration and use of tech. Also, I will attempt to use a virtual classroom to extend the collaboration of writing, thinking and cultural learning.*Note, World Literature has already attempted this with its Dialogue Project.
